Online Dating Tips to Keep You Safe
What’s your views about online dating? Have you met anyone on an online dating site? I must admit, it’s a quick and easy way to meet a potential partner, and start a relationship. The demands of work, family and other life issues leaves little time to meet a partner. The only spare time left for socialising after a hectic week, are the weekends. But, maybe your weekends are also busy. So, online dating becomes one of your main options.
It’s great to sit in the comfort of your home and choose who you would like to date. You carefully go through the profiles and decide whether he sounds okay or not.
Simple, isn’t it? However, what are the odds of you actually meeting a man with a genuine profile?
Can you believe everything he says he is from his online profile? Or is it too good to be true?
The reality of online dating
I’ve heard many horror stories about online dating. Women are getting scammed for money by men posing as single and free. Some are only interested in sex. Others have their women at home and just want to try something new. And there are those who are trying to get their foot inside your house.
When you go online looking to meet someone, you don’t know their history. You haven’t got a clue about who they are. The only evidence you have is what they choose to tell you. Sometimes it’s the truth. Other times it’s a bunch of lies.
I’m not saying there aren’t some decent, honest men online looking for long-term relationships leading to marriage. But you may have to kiss a few frogs before meeting your prince. All the same, if online dating is your main way of meeting a man, be careful. Make sure your eyes are wide open and your senses on alert while chatting online. And most importantly, when you meet up with them.
My experience of online dating is questionable. I met a man online a few years ago. He lived in another country. It turned out he wasn’t really interested in having a relationship with me, he was more interested in coming to the UK. His agenda was to use sweet talk to flatter me. No doubt, after getting emotionally attached, I would do anything for him (so he hoped), including helping him move to the UK. Anyway, I discovered his game and ended our short friendship.
If you use online dating sites, be aware. Follow the dating rules and keep safe.
